The Doctors Kerikeri

The Doctors Kerikeri Medical Centre

Welcome to our practice

To limit the number of people in our waiting room we encourage you not to bring a support person into the practice unless under exceptional circumstances, and if required, limited to one person only. If you have any concerns, please let our team know when making your appointment.

The Doctors Kerikeri is a rural general practice medical centre. Our expert medical team provide quality, caring and professional family medicine, as well as immunisation services and immigration medicals. We also offer a range of special medical clinics including ear suction, and eye care, and have a number of visiting specialists working from the practice. There is also a pharmacy on site. We are proudly Cornerstone Accredited through our commitment to meeting legal and safety standards and continuous quality improvement.  We have female and male doctors available and have a Saturday morning clinic. There is plenty of parking available and disability access.

We are currently only accepting new enrolments from those living in the Kerikeri zone. We will open up to the wider community as soon as we can. Thanks for your understanding.

Get your flu vaccine with us - if you're enrolled with us booking a flu vaccine is easy and best done through the patient portal – book now! Or if you are not enrolled, you can request an appointment using our online form:

Covid-19 Tests & Results
If you have Covid-19 symptoms or are a household contact of a positive case please visit the Northland DHB website to find your closest testing station as we have limited capacity currently to offer RATs. Most testing is now done via Rapid Antigen Testing (RATs) with results available within 30mins. You will need to self-report your result via My COVID Record or by calling 0800 222 478 and pressing option 3. The majority of positive cases will be able to self-manage and required to follow current isolation rules. If you have concerns or if your symptoms are worsening, call us on 09 419 2180 or 111 in an emergency.

  • Minor Surgery
  • Immunisations
  • Womens Health
  • Chronic Disease Management

Influenza Immunisation

The Influenza immunisation is recommended and currently subsidised by the Government for any person over 65 years old and any person with a chronic condition. Others may have the immunisation if they wish. The immunisation does not protect against the common cold, tonsillitis, sinusitis or bronchitis.

Travel Vaccinations

Make an appointment with one of our GPs to discuss travel immunisations and other required medications. The vaccinations will be ordered by the pharmacy. Please allow at least 6 weeks prior to travel to ensure you have time for a full course of immunisation.

Immunisations for Children

We recommend immunisation at 6 weeks, 3 months, 5 months, 15 months, 4 years, and 11 years of age in accordance with current National guidelines. We are happy to discuss benefits and risks with all parents. Please book an appointment with a Nurse.

Child Development Checks

Routine medical checks for children are recommended 6 weeks prior to immunisation, and also at 9 months, 2.5 years and 4 years of age. This is a normal Doctor's appointment.

Minor Surgery

All aspects of minor surgery are catered for, including removal of warts, moles and skin cancers. Cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen is usually available at the time of an initial appointment. For other surgery, an initial appointment is required for assessment of the condition.

Maternity Advice

Make an appointment with your GP to discuss pregnancy advice. Midwives are the leading providers of maternity care, however we do offer emergency advice if necessary. A list of local midwives is available at reception.

An initial consultation for all contraception choices should be made with a GP. For repeat prescriptions of the pill, mini pill or depo injection, an appointment can be made with a nurse. Dr Patel and Dr Caswell can insert IUCDs, and Dr Caswell and Dr Mabidikama can insert the Jadelle and Mirena implants.

Blood and X-ray Results

We will only contact you if we receive an abnormal result. If we cannot contact you by phone, we will write to you. Please make sure that we have your up to date contact details at all times. If you would like your results, you are welcome to ring and speak to a nurse and if you remain unwell or are worried, please call and speak to one of our nurses. We also have an online option called “Manage my Health” which allows you to access your results on line.
