At The Doctors Te Whare Hāpara, we have a friendly and dedicated team of medical professionals with a diverse range of skills, experience, and professional interests. As our team has undergone some changes, we’d love for you to get to know us better.

Our highly skilled team is committed to providing consistent, high-quality general practice services to all our valued patients.

All our GPs are New Zealand-registered and fully qualified, with some also bringing international training and experience. This enables us to offer a wide range of treatments and services during your visit. Additionally, each of our doctors has specific areas of interest and expertise, ensuring you have access to specialized knowledge and advice when needed.

We’re now taking bookings for flu vaccines. It’s free for people who meet the eligibility criteria. You can still get a flu vaccine if you’re not eligible for a funded one, for a small fee.

For casual patients, please call us to book an appointment. 

  1. Payment is by EFTPOS, credit card, or cash.
  2. From 1st February 2024 payment is required prior to appointment with General Practitioner/Nurse Practitioner/Nurse/HCA.  
  3. Accounts outstanding at end of the month will include a monthly $10 late payment fee and $10 statement fee, these extra charges will be incurred every month until paid.
  4. Patients with accounts still left unpaid will be referred to a debt collection agency, and the account holder will be liable for fees incurred by the agency as a result of the debt recovery.

For enrolled patients

For enrolled patients, we recommend using our patient portal, The Doctors App. Log in via the app on your phone or the desktop version to view available practitioners and appointments.

Please note: Booking through the app is available for enrolled patients only. If you don’t have a login, please create an account here. If you have just enrolled, please note that you won’t have access to The Doctors App until we have confirmed your enrolment via email. If you are unsure, please call us.

To Download ‘The Doctors App’ on your mobile:

1.    Scan the QR code below, or click on the Apple or Google Play buttons which will take you directly to the app store to download it.

3.    Enter your details. Please make sure your name, date of birth, and mobile number match the details you gave us when you enrolled with us.

There’s no need to come into the clinic, you can enrol online - it’s secure and confidential. The online form will guide you and you will need to upload suitable identification.

Paper Enrolment

Paper enrolment forms are still available if you're not able to complete the online form. For each person enrolling, simply print and complete: the Enrolment Form, an Adult or Child Medical Questionnaire and email all files to info@twh.thedoctors.co.nz including a copy of your suitable identification:

The last way you can Enrol is to pop into the clinic and fill out a form at reception - please bring either NZ Passport or Birth Certificate Resident or Work Visa and Passport

Just phone our friendly team for a casual appointment. Extra charges apply for casual appointments when you are not enrolled at our practice.

Our enrolment capacity is currently limited.

We are operating on a one-in/one-out basis. Please contact the practice to join the waitlist. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Your healthcare is our highest priority, and we will reopen enrolments when we are able. Thank you for understanding.

Standard Payment Terms and Conditions

The Cost of Health Care in New Zealand

Healthcare in New Zealand is a mixture of free and subsidised services, where patients pay a fee to cover some of the costs of providing healthcare services.

Free and subsidised care is only available to New Zealand citizens and/or permanent residents, with exceptions in some cases for visitors from countries like the UK and Australia where New Zealand have reciprocal agreements. Ask our reception team if you think you may be entitled to a funded service for your visit or have any other questions on our fees.

Useful Information About Fees at The Doctors

  • Payment is due the day of consultation or service - prior to your appointment. Pre-payment policy applied from 1 February 2024.
  • Repeat prescriptions must be paid for before the prescription is issued or sent to a pharmacy. This policy applied from 1 May 2024.
  • All fees are based on a single appointment, extended consultations may incur additional charges. Fees may vary due to the time taken and materials used. Fees and procedure fees increased FROM 1 July 2024.
  • Medical consumables will be charged separately.
  • Weekends, afterhours and public holidays will incur additional fees, however our clinic is not open at any of these times.
  • Accounts may only be set up with the approval of the Medical Centre Manager.
  • Accounts that are unpaid will be sent to Debt Collection Agency. The debtor (patient) is responsible for all debt collection fees. After a process, you may  be un-enrolled by the practice, if you continue to have an outstanding account.
  • Normal consultation charges apply to all Virtual or Phone Consultations.
  • Newly enrolled patients will require a double appointment for their first visit. A double appointment fee will apply.
  • A minimum of 90 minutes cancellation notice, for a booked appointment is required. Non-attendance or more than 3 minutes late for your scheduled appointment time, will incur a normal consultation fee charge.
  • Our practice nurses are skilled professionals and there is a fee when you see them for advice or services.
  • If you have a Community Services Card, you may be eligible for a reduced consultation or prescription fee (see fees section).
  • If your account is still outstanding by the end of each month, an additional $10.00 monthly statement fee, may be charged.

Pay Online

Our practice will email or text your unique Medeor Pay by Link. It will give you access to view outstanding invoices on your account and flexible ways to pay. There may be a small transaction fee.

After Hours Service (Monday - Friday 5pm -10pm, Saturday/Sunday, and Public Holidays 8am - 8pm) - Telephone the practice at (06) 868 8887 and press Option 1 to be referred to a nurse triage service. You may then be referred to Practice Plus for a virtual (video) GP consultation. Fees apply.
