The Doctors Kopeopeo is a family friendly general medical practice located in central Whakatane. Our aim is to provide excellent healthcare and service at all times. We have experienced GPs and a Nurse Practitioner who along with their team of practice nurses and receptionists will take care of all your family’s healthcare needs. There is also a choice of two pharmacies close by.
When you phone to make an appointment reception will organise for your GP to call you back at a set time - please be available on the number you've given us at the agreed time. A lot of our patients are opting for a phone or video consult in the comfort of home now as many medical issues can be dealt with this way. Depending on your medical needs, the doctor may feel you need to come into the clinic to be seen in person. Standard fees apply to phone and video consultations.
We are currently only accepting enrolments from family members of enrolled patients. Please contact us if this applies to you, otherwise we will open up enrolments again to everybody as soon as we can. Thanks for your understanding.

The Cost of Health Care in New Zealand
Healthcare in New Zealand is a mixture of free and subsidised services, where patients pay a fee to cover some of the costs of providing healthcare services.
Free and subsidised care is only available to New Zealand residents, with exceptions in some cases for visitors from countries like the UK and Australia where New Zealand have reciprocal agreements. Ask our reception team if you think you may be entitled to a funded service for your visit or have any other questions on our fees.
Useful Information About Fees at The Doctors
Our practice will email or text your unique Medeor Pay by Link. It will give you access to view outstanding invoices on your account and flexible ways to pay. There may be a small transaction fee.
Lacey Burnett is a United States trained and board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with over 12 years of professional nursing experience. As an FNP, she is trained to treat the entire family, from infancy to older adulthood. Her care includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of the majority of conditions that may present to primary care with the understanding that some individuals need a collaborative approach with other members of the health care team, including physician and specialty care.
She worked for several years as a Registered Nurse in multiple acute care settings, including Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and Critical Care Flight Nursing. After experiences working in clinic in New Zealand, she discovered her passion for primary care and its role in disease prevention, early detection, and chronic illness management. She then completed a Masters of Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice studies at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon.
She enjoys getting to know her clients and strives to foster a holistic, collaborative, and therapeutic relationship which encourages active participation to improve health and functional status. She hopes her work as a nurse practitioner will help decrease health disparities and improve population health, especially for underserved, rural, vulnerable, and marginalized individuals, families, and populations. Lacey and her family recently relocated from the U.S. and are looking forward to settling in to work and life in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
Cynthia is from The Netherlands and moved to New Zealand with her family in November 2016. After graduating from the University of Amsterdam, she completed her training in Tropical Medicine and worked together with her husband in South Africa for several years. After working in Africa she completed her GP training also in Amsterdam. Cynthia enjoys all aspects of Family Medicine, with a special interest in minor surgery and women's health.
She likes to travel, explore the outdoors and get to know different cultures. This and lots of sunshine brought her to Whakatane.
Besides working as a GP, Astrid enjoys being active, doing adventure races, going for a walk and mountain biking.
