Geraldine Poynter

Gerry was born in Auckland, growing up in Oratia before moving to Kumeu while studying medicine at Auckland University. Following graduation she worked in a wide range of specialities in Waikato Hospital and in hospitals in North East Yorkshire. She completed her specialist  training with the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP), and on returning to New Zealand she obtained her Fellowship of the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners (FRNZCGP).

Gerry enjoys all aspects of medicine which is why she chose General Practice. She is particularly interested in Women and Children’s medicine, psychiatric/psychological medicine, older people’s health and ENT.

Gerry lives with her Yorkshire husband, two young children and George the dog. She enjoys exercising with her family in the Eastern Bays and is a keen gardener and avid reader. She regularly travels to the UK to catch up with family there and loves escaping to the Pacific islands in the winter when she can.
