Silverstream Health Centre provides a full family healthcare service to residents of Silverstream and the wider community in the Hutt Valley and Upper Hutt. Conveniently located in a shopping area near the local commuter rail station, we are open five days a week, extended hours most evenings. With our team of GPs, practice nurses, and receptionists, and a wide range of additional general practice services available in the centre or just nearby, we provide complete primary health care under one roof. We are a Cornerstone, RNZCGP quality accredited practice.

Friday 26th May: Pink Shirt Day to stand together to take action against bullying. Celebrated annually around the globe, and also at Silverstream Health Centre! Pink Shirt Day aims to create schools, workplaces and communities where all people feel safe, valued and respected. If you witness bullying or know someone who is being bullied, Take action, stop it!! Support anti-bullying every day! Bullying does not belong in our children’s schools, work place or home. Let’s all take a stand and fight to stamp out bullying for good.

After hours service

Please note from 1 July 2016 we changed our after hours service. We are working together with Upper Hutt Health Centre to provide an after hours service from the newly refurbished Upper Hutt Health Centre premises off Queen Street in central Upper Hutt. The practices joining forces strengthens the After Hours medical services in Upper Hutt, which both centres feel strongly about as an important service for our local community.  Our combined team of 22 general practitioners and nursing and administrative staff are committed to providing quality primary healthcare for Upper Hutt. 

The After Hours service is for the enrolled patients of Upper Hutt Health Centre and Silverstream Health Centre and operates 365 days of the year to allow our patients to access urgent care when they need it. Consultations are free for children under 13 years of age, please phone Upper Hutt Health Centre to book in an appointment. The After Hours service opening times are Monday - Friday 5pm to 8pm  |  Weekends - 9am to 6pm  |  Public Holidays - 10am to 5pm. If you need medical care when our practice is closed, please call Upper Hutt Health Centre on (04) 920 1800.

Shared care record

Your health information is now accessible by more clinicians involved in your care. Although we have decided as a practice to implement Shared Care Record any other health professional treating you must still ask your permission to access your Shared Care Record if you visit another GP, an After hours Medical Centre or a hospital emergency department. If you don't wish other health providers to have access to your Shared Care Record you can fully opt-out at any time by talking at us at the centre or phoning Shared Care Record Project line on 0800 727 664, or sending a letter to the freepost address below:

Manage My Health

We are excited to announce that Manage My Health patient portal is now available for your convenience. Manage My Health is an online system that allows you to read your consultation notes, check your lab results and find out when your routine health checks are due along with ordering your repeat prescriptions and booking your own GP appointments at a click of a button - it replaces the online appointment and repeat prescription service for Silverstream patients. After hours service

If you need medical care when our practice is closed, please call 0800 611 116. Your call will be taken by a New Zealand registered triage nurse, who will assess your needs, offer advice or arrange immediate assistance.  This could include referral to your on-call GP (if applicable) clinic, hospital, ambulance or any available after-hours facility in your area.

This service is available all night, on weekends and public holidays, and any time the practice is closed including Christmas Day.

So if someone is not feeling well in the middle of the night, don't hesitate to call us for free advice. It doesn't matter what time it is, just call our practice number and you will be forwarded directly to a registered nurse.

You won't wake anyone up because the nurses are there, waiting to help anytime. We know how upsetting it can be to lie awake worrying "should I be doing something, or should I wait till the morning". Now you don't have to worry. Just pick up the phone and ring any time on 0800 611 116.

A report of your enquiry will be sent to your doctor.  Silverstream Health Centre is pleased to provide this free service as part of our practice policy to offer the best possible health care for our patients.

If you are planning to travel in the coming months, we can help you with your vaccinations and travel health needs. Just book an appointment with one of our team and we can advise you about what you need for your trip and we can arrange any additional vaccinations you may need to make sure you’re covered!

Simply ask at reception or download our enrolment form below. Complete all the sections and send back to us by email, post, fax or bring it in with you.  You may need to bring in an original ID document (e.g. Drivers’ License, Birth Certificate, Passport) before your first visit - call our team to find out.

You do not need to be a patient with us to be seen by one of our medical team.If you’re a visitor to the region and need medical care, you’re also welcome. Please call our friendly team for an appointment.  All visitors and casual patients, please be aware that extra charges can apply when you are not enrolled.
