The Doctors Greenmeadows

Yes, you can book with a GP!  However, you MUST call us first to speak to a GP, who will be able to provide a phone consultation, or if necessary will arrange a Face to Face consultation.  We will only be operating on the day appointments, NO advanced bookings at this stage.

To avoid long waits on the phone, you can request a call back from your GP, by clicking the link below to submit an online form.  Please be aware in most instances we will try to get your own GP to call you back, however if your GP is away it will be another member of our clinical staff who will return your call. Please specify who you wish to speak to in the message section of the submission form.
*Please do not use this submission form if you are needing to speak to someone URGENTLY.

WHAT WILL LEVEL 2 LOOK LIKE AT THE DOCTORS GREENMEADOWS?

During the different levels of Lockdown we have had to make a number of changes throughout our clinics and adapt accordingly.  We have made some really positive changes, which we will continue to move forward with.

During Level 2, we will:

  • Continue with our routine and urgent/acute care with BOOKED APPOINTMENTS ONLY.  Anyone needing an appointment will need to be first called by our clinician to assess the need for being seen face to face. This is to ensure we are able to separate respiratory (cold & flu like symptoms) and non-respiratory cases for the safety of both our patients and staff.  This will also help minimise the amount of time waiting in the clinic.
  • PLEASE NOTE WE WILL NOT BE TAKING ANY 'WALK IN' PATIENTS
  • Nurse appointments will continue to run from Greenmeadows, these appointments MUST be booked appointments.
  • There will be a limit to the amount of patients we can have in the waiting room at any given time.  We will work with a one in, one out system.
  • All prescriptions will continue to be faxed to your pharmacy of choice.
  • Manage My Health bookings will remain disabled at this point in time, this is to enable our clinicians to speak to you first before bringing you in.
  • All Covid-19 testing and assessments will continue to run from The Doctors Napier, 30 Munroe Street. This service is by appointment only and is free of charge.  Please phone 06 6504000 for an appointment.

The way we are operating is constantly changing.  We are trying to adapt and adjust to make things work best for both staff and patients, both for convenience and safety.  We will keep you up to date with our changes as we progress.  Thank you again to all of our patients for your support and resilience through what has been an extremely difficult time.

The Doctors Greenmeadows is part of a cluster of healthcare facilities available at 524 Kennedy Road. We are a purpose-built medical centre, with access to Unichem Greenmeadows Pharmacy, Physio@The Doctors and TRG Imaging (Radiology).

We provide a full family general practice service. Facilities include three acute treatment bays for accident and medical treatment, consultation rooms for our general practitioners, a room for specialist nurse clinics and visiting consultants and in 2016 The Doctors Greenmeadows opened it's very own Specialist Suite, home to our functional medicine doctors, nutritionist and naturopath.  Please see under our list of services for more information.

We also offer ManageMyHealth (MMH) to our enrolled patients, which allows you to communicate with your medical centre from from any internet device to request repeat prescriptions, book appointments and view your personal health information at any time.

The Doctors Greenmeadows is a satellite clinic of The Doctors Napier and enrolled patients are invited to attend the Napier clinic at 30 Munroe St if you need care at weekends and public holidays, or after hours on weekdays.

Are you OK? It's OK to ask for help

Suicide rates within New Zealand are increasing at a rapid rate.  It is a worldwide problem.

Hawkes Bay alone has devastatingly high suicide rates, with the East Coast having the highest rate in New Zealand.

Our whanau, our community, our nation need us!  Ask your loved ones the hard questions.  Don't assume "they'll be OK".

If you need help, asking for help is OK! Asking for help can be daunting, but asking is your first step to get the help you need.

Our team at The Doctors are always here to help.

How can I access help?

If you are feeling suicidal or have concerns that someone is suicidal, we treat this as a matter of urgency.  Call our clinic and ask to speak to a nurse or GP urgently.  You do not have to go into detail with our call centre/front desk staff, simply let them know your matter is urgent.

Alternatively, you can present into our Napier clinic, 30 Munroe Street and ask to be seen urgently, you will be seen as a priority.

I can't afford to see my doctor but I need help?

Never let the cost of a consultation stop you from accessing help.  We have access to different funding streams when cost is a barrier, in particular for mental health issues.  This may mean your visit can be partially or fully funded.  If we cannot access funding for you and it is a mental health or medical emergency, it is our policy to see you regardless of whether payment can be made or not.

Where else can I get help?

  • 0800 112 334 - Emergency Mental Health Service (Crisis Team)
  • 06 8788109 - Hawkes Bay Hospital - Community Mental Health

Dr Holly Runstadler

GP, Doctor of Osteopathy with certification in Family Medicine - USA Trained

Dr Holly Runstadler joined our Greenmeadows team in early 2020.

Dr Runstadler studied at Michigan State University College of Osteopath Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan, USA.

She grew up in Michigan and completed her undergraduate degree, medical degree and residency training there.  She moved to Denver, Colorado and worked for 4 years as a family practitioner before moving to NZ in 2012.  She was luck enough to find a GP position in Hawkes Bay and has been here ever since, other than a few months working as a locum during her first year in NZ.

Dr Runstadler has an interest in Functional Medicine, which looks at the root cause of disease to help patients reverse their chronic health conditions.  "I believe that by addressing lifestyle factors, including nutrition, exercise, stress, sleep and support, we can prevent and even reverse most of the long term health conditions that face our society today".

Outside of work Dr Runstadler loves exploring our beautiful country and tries to get outside as often as possible, with her husband, 2 young daughters and their Labradoodle Murphy.  She also enjoys crossfit, biking, swimming, hiking, yoga and playing football.  She travels as often as she can to visit family who are scattered around the globe.

Paula Hadabora

Naturopath, Nutritionist, Medical Herbalist, Breast Health Technician

Paula joined The Doctors Greenmeadows team in early 2016.

Paula studied at the Lotus Holistic Centre and the Naturopathic College of New Zealand to gain her Diploma in Naturopathy and Herbal Medicine, as well as undertaking a Postgraduate certificate in Science and Technology in Human Nutrition at Massey University.  Paula is currently furthering her studies and is due to complete her Postgraduate Diploma in Science & Technology, in Human Nutrition.

Paula is passionate about focusing on nutrition, and a holistic approach to contribute to improving health outcomes and general well being, particularly women's health, autoimmune and digestive issues.  Paula is also one of the founding members of the Hawkes Bay Breast Cancer Trust, which successfully runs the Moving On Programme and has spent many years organising events to raise money to support families in Hawkes Bay.

Outside of work Paula enjoys cooking, eating great food, especially with friends, gardening, walking, tennis, volleyball, playing the piano, reading and trying to keep up with her two young boys.

Dr Daniel Fouhy

Jane see's people of all ages and stages to support them wherever they are in their health journeys.  She does this by working with nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, supplements, medications and works as "a cheerleader of your life choices and a guide as you make health decisions"

Jane is currently becoming a mental health credentialed nurse to support the large levels of anxiety and depression she has seen in her time working in clinic.

Outside of work "I am big reader and a perennial learner, I am currently trying to pick up French again, and lamely playing the piano.  So then I have to balance all that sitting with some gardening, walking and going to the gym and pretending I am much younger than I am.  Otherwise you will find me in the sun with a good chardonnay"

Dr Anthony Edwards

MB BS, Dip Obst, FRNZCGP Integrated Health GP

A GP since 1981 and at The Doctors Napier since 1989, Dr Edwards uses a combination of natural health and standard medical diagnostics and treatment. He specialises in management of long term health issues whether in children or adults. Focusing on prevention and aiming for long term good health. Appointments with Dr Edwards are necessary and there can be a wait for an initial appointment.

"In the late 1990s, 20 years after graduating as a doctor, I made a radical change. I applied Functional Medicine to my general practice. Functional Medicine focuses on the underlying causes of ill health rather than just naming a series of seemingly unconnected diseases and prescribing a series of drugs or operations for each disease.  Don’t get me wrong. Acute medicine is very accomplished at treating named diseases and we have specialists and hospitals who do this exceptionally well. I was trained as a doctor hence well trained in acute medicine. There have been astounding advances in acute medicine and surgery. Yet more and more people need more and more acute services as they get older. Why? Can this trend be changed?  As I moved from hospital practice to general practice, I started seeing the same people over an extended period of time. I noticed even with the best of care, chronic conditions progressed, albeit more slowly.

Is there evidence of health getting off track before a disease is found? Can those signs be picked up? Can the trend to ill health be reversed? Can a chronic disease state be reversed?  I aspire to avoid the ravages of ill health if I can, and speaking to the members of my medical practice over the years, they want the same. Thus began my quest for answers to these questions. I was surprised to discover there are many answers already out there, but more importantly there is a particular new way of thinking that asks what is really going on? More answers (and more questions) emerge each day, week, year.  I have applied this way of thinking, (Functional medicine) to my practice and my life (as best I can!) since the last years of the 20th century".

In November The Doctors Napier Ltd was awarded at the GXH Medical Leads Conference for Improving Processes

Here at The Doctors Napier Ltd we are solutions-focused. Due to the increasing demand on our practices we are trying to provide more options to our patients to get the care you need.

2019 has been a big year for us with the implementation of the following:

  • A new patient management system
  • A new phone system to improve call wait times and more options to get the right person you need for your query
  • GP phone triage, giving our patients the option of being cared for over the phone without needing to come in to be seen. In turn this has improved access to our urgent care services and more available appointments to our patients

Thank you to our staff and community for your patience and resilience as we have implemented these major changes.
