We run a Community GP Centre with appointments available Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. We also run an Urgent Care Clinic, for casual patients or for enrolled patients for times when you can't wait for a booked appointment such as accident, injury or sudden illness, open 8am-8pm everyday, including public holidays.
Our urgent care centre is equipped to a very high standard and is certified to the Urgent Care standard, with acute treatment bays to take care of most types of accidents or medical emergencies, as well as family health care for both casual and enrolled patients. Our urgent care service applies the Australian Triage standard, which means that patient priority is based upon urgency rather than arrival time.
Medical care for all children under 13 is free of charge at all times, including for casual patients.
Plenty of parking is available directly outside the centre, the Unichem Pharmacy and Central Medlab are also on site, together with a great care available for patients and visitors.
We cater for all acute and long-term illnesses found in general practice. We encourage patients to register with one of our GPs for continuity to care. Our services also include:
- X-Ray services
- suturing of woulds
- applications of fracture casts
- immigration medicals
- driver medicals
- pre-employment medicals
- vaccinations - such as flu and shingles
- on-site urine drug testing
- IUCD appointments
We also treat a lot of sporting injuries, with physiotherapy on site. Minor surgery such as removal of cysts and moles, excision of ingrown toenails and vasectomies are carried out in a special theatre in our new centre. We carry out pre- and post-employment medicals, drivers and immigration medicals. Audiometry and spirometry are also available. The Palms Health and Wellness Centre offers integrated family health options. We also offer IUCD consultations for registered and casual patients where appropriate. It may consist of two appointments, please call us in the first instance for details and cost.

Shared care record
A new electronic "Shared Care Record" is available for patients in the MidCentral district.
If you visit an after-hours medical centre at City Doctors, The Palms, or Horowhenua-After-Hours, the health professionals caring for you will have access to a summary of information from your GP.
The record which is secure, can be used by after-hours general practice teams to better provide you with safe and effective health care.
