GP Services:  Booked Appointments from 8am – 6pm Monday - Thursday and 5pm Fridays

Walk-in Clinic:  For all accidents, injuries or suddenly feeling unwell from 8am – 5pm Monday - Friday.    Please note that we are not an Emergency Department.  Patients are seen in order of arrival as much as possible, however all patients are prioritised based on their assessed level of clinical need.  This means that people with non-urgent needs may experience a longer waiting time than those with more urgent needs.              THE CLINIC MAY, AT TIMES, CLOSE EARLIER THAN THE POSTED CLOSE TIMES.

Our practice is fully endorsed to ACC Standards. We have also achieved Cornerstone Accreditation through our commitment to meeting legal and safety standards and continuous quality improvement. Operating from our professional, purpose-built facilities.

Covid-19 Tests & Results
If you have Covid-19 symptoms or are a household contact of a positive case please phone us to arrange your test. Most testing is now done via Rapid Antigen Testing (RATs) with results available within 30mins. You will need to self-report your result via My COVID Record or by calling 0800 222 478 and pressing option 3. The majority of positive cases will be able to self-manage and required to follow current isolation rules. If you have concerns or if your symptoms are worsening, call us on 09 273 8980 or 111 in an emergency.

Consults
Many consults are virtual (phone or video), with some in person. Phone 09 273 8980 to book and tell us if you have any Covid-19 symptoms. We will explain what to do when coming into the practice. Please wear a mask at all times.

Paper enrolment forms are still available if you're not able to complete the online form. For each person enrolling, simply print and complete:  the Enrolment Form, an Adult or Child Medical Questionnaire and email all files to info@tr.thedoctors.co.nz including a copy of your suitable identification

Not enrolled but need an appointment? 

You can still get an appointment even if you are not enrolled with us e.g. if you’re a visitor to the region. Just phone our friendly team for a casual appointment.  Extra charges apply for casual appointments when you are not enrolled.

Health Checks and Screening

Care for your health, and make sure you have relevant health checks and screening:

  • Breast screening: free mammograms every two years for women aged 45 to 69, phone 0800 270 200 to make your appointment
  • Child immunisation: please check to see if your child's immunistion is up-to-date
  • Cervical smear checks: remember to keep up-to-date with these checks - all our nurses are trained and certified to assist you - call us to book yours in!
  • Flu vaccinations: available in autumn & winter. Free if you are over 65, pregnant, or have a long-term condition
  • Tetanus vaccination booster: for all adults aged 45 years and again at 65 years
  • Heart and diabetes checks: for men aged 45 - 75 and women aged 55 - 75. 10 years, earlier (men 35, women 45) if:
    - you are Maori, Pacific Islander or from the Indian sub-continent
    - have a family history of diabetes, heart disease or stroke
    - have been a smoker
    - have had diabetes, diabetes in pregnancy, polycystic ovary cancer, 
    obesity, kidney or blood pressure problems

Extended & Follow Up Consultations

Extended consultations
A standard booked GP consultation is 15 minutes. Sometimes you may have several issues  you wish to discuss. If there is not enough time during the consultation to address all your concerns, your Doctor may ask you to make a further appointment. 

If you feel that you will require more than 15 minutes, our friendly receptionists can always book an appointment of up to 30 minutes for you. Please note that an extended consultation fee will apply.

Prescription & follow-up consultations
We have separate charges for prescriptions and follow-up consultations. However if your Doctor needs to spend more time with you than usual, a full consultation fee will apply.

Travel Health

At The Doctors Ti Rakau, our doctors are trained in all aspects of travel health services. They are available Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm. Contact us 6 weeks before setting off, click here for our Travel Health Questionnaire

  • Specific travel advice tailored to the travellers needs to plan for a healthy and safe trip
  • General travel advice on such issues as deep vein thrombosis, jet lag, traveller’s diarrhoea, altitude sickness
  • Advice on accident and injury prevention
  • Advice on women’s health issues such as pregnancy and flying and HIV considerations
  • Advice on specific diseases and illnesses relating to the traveller’s destination, including malaria, rabies, hepatitis and more
  • Pre-travel vaccinations - get the right vaccines, medications and advice for the right countries
  • Manage complicated medical issues, families, school groups or business travel
  • Post-travel health needs or illnesses
  • Travel consultations are a non-funded service for both adults and children

We use Procare Nurse Triaging through Homecare Medical Ltd. Please phone the practice number (09) 2738980 for advice. Your call is answered by a registered nurse who will triage and advise for alternative after-hours care.

Surcharge Fees

Appointments with our doctors and nurses are in high demand. If you are unable to attend your appointment or no longer need it, please advise us by cancelling on The Doctors App or calling us on 09 273 8980 4 hours prior. The account holder will be charged a fee of $30.00 for any unkept and unnotified appointments. This fee will apply to all age groups including children as we are unable to use that appointment for another patient.  Thank you for your understanding.

The Cost of Health Care in New Zealand

Healthcare in New Zealand is a mixture of free and subsidised services, where patients pay a fee to cover some of the costs of providing healthcare services.

Free and subsidised care is only available to New Zealand residents, with exceptions in some cases for visitors from countries like the UK and Australia where New Zealand have reciprocal agreements. Ask our reception team if you think you may be entitled to a funded service for your visit or have any other questions on our fees.

Useful Information About Fees at The Doctors

  • Payment is due the day of consultation or service - prior to your appointment.
  • Repeat prescriptions must be paid for before the prescription is issued or sent to a pharmacy.
  • All fees are based on a single appointment, extended consultations may incur additional charges. Fees may vary due to the time taken and materials used.
  • Medical consumables will be charged separately.
  • Weekends, afterhours and public holidays will incur additional fees
  • Accounts may only be set up with the approval of the Medical Centre Manager.
  • Accounts that are unpaid will be sent to Debt Collection. The debtor (patient) is responsible for all debt collection fees.
  • Normal consultation charges apply to Virtual or Phone Consultations.
  • Newly enrolled patients may require a double appointment for their first visit. A double appointment fee will apply.
  • Four hours cancellation notice for a booked appointment is required. Non-attendance will incur a normal consultation fee.
  • Our practice nurses are skilled professionals and there is a fee when you see them for advice or services.
  • If you have a Community Services Card, you may be eligible for a reduced consultation or prescription fee.
  • If not paid in full an additional $10.00 fee will be charged for all age groups

Pay Online

Our practice will email or text your unique Medeor Pay by Link. It will give you access to view outstanding invoices on your account and flexible ways to pay. There may be a small transaction fee.

    Dr Zia enjoys the many different aspects of family medicine with a special interest in chronic medical conditions and minor procedures. Dr Zia is a father of two girls and enjoys cooking and watching cricket.  Dr Zia speaks English, Undi, Hindi, Pashto and some Arabic.

    Dr Diala Ibrahim

    Hi, I am a graduate of the University of Auckland Medical School. After graduating, I worked in hospitals throughout Auckland under a range of specialties before starting general practice which has been an incredibly rewarding move.

    My special interests are preventative medicine, mental health and minor surgeries although I enjoy all aspects of general practice from the diversity of the patients I meet to the variation in their presentations.

    I enjoy spending time with family and friends, keeping active and fit, and being out and about. I also speak Arabic. I look forward to caring for you and your family.

    Dr Frank Yang

    A graduate of the Poznan University of Medical Sciences (Poland), Dr. Yang has worked in Auckland and Tauranga Hospital for 5 years before joining General Practice. He has also obtained a Diploma in Obstetrics and Medical Gynaecology from University of Auckland. He is happy to consult in English, Mandarin and Taiwanese.

    Dr Allan Tee

    MBChB (Otago), Dip O&G, Dip Paeds, FRNZCGP, FRNZCUC - GP/Urgent Care Physician

    After graduating from Otago Medical School in 1997, Allan spent the first 3 years working in various hospitals. In 2001, he gained post-graduate qualification in both Pediatrics and Obstetric & Gynecology. He completed his Fellowship training for the Royal NZ college of GPs in 2004. In 2017, Allan gained his Fellowship in Royal NZ college of Urgent Care. Allan has been part of The Doctors Group for over a decade. He is the GP Lead at the The Doctors Ti Rakau and a Director/Partner of The Doctors Middlemore.  He is part of the Clinical Advisory Group (CAG) providing governance and clinical oversight for the Green Cross Health Medical network. 

    Allan enjoys all aspects of family medicine and has a special interest in minor surgery and treatment of accident and sports injuries. Outside of work, Allan is a busy father of two boys and enjoys the outdoors and sports, especially basketball and golf. Allan speaks English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

    Dr Di Bartolo graduated from the University of Cape Town Medical School in 1984. Her special interests are in woman’s health, pediatrics, mental health and the management of obesity.
