The Doctors Napier
From 1 December there is a change to After Hours care in Hawke's Bay. Patients of The Doctors Napier can still call our phone after hours, 06 835 4696, and your call will be diverted to City Medical who now manage all after hours assistance. The Doctors Napier, founded in 1989, provides a complete family and urgent health service. We welcome our booked, enrolled patients on week days, as well as walk-in, casual patients 7 days a week. We are open every day of the year, except Christmas Day, as well as providing on-call backup outside of our normal opening hours.
In addition to the full range of primary care provided in our Napier and recently refurbished and expanded Greenmeadows site, we offer a number of additional services, including nurse-led health clinics and programmes giving patients expert guidance, support, or treatment. For patient convenience, we are also home to a physiotherapist, x-ray, midwives and pharmacy. All our systems are fully computerised, allowing us to access test results directly from the laboratory. We are also contracted to provide health services to the students and staff at Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT).

Feedback on patient survey
In 2015 we invited you to take part in an online survey. We are now excited to share some of the results with you. We appreciate your feedback and we have listened to your recommendations. A total of 96 surveys were received, 63 for Napier and 33 for Greenmeadows. The end result was an overall satisfaction rating of 78% for Greenmeadows and 81% for Napier.

Many of you found reception to be a warm, welcoming place where you are known by name. You suggested the reception area was not sufficiently private when staff are talking on the phone and we have taken this on board.

Many of you described your doctor experience positively stating the doctor was friendly, professional and thorough. You especially appreciated our walk-in and after hours service. At the same time, some of you expressed concern at not always getting appointments when you wanted them and were disappointed with wait times for booked appointments and walk-in visits. This is something we continually try to improve upon and we do our best not to keep you waiting.

Seen us lately?
Have you been to see your GP in the last two and a half years? No? While this is probably a good thing, it may mean that you could lose your enrolment status with us. This means that the next time you do need to see your GP you may have to pay more (up to $40 more in some instances).
The good news is that it is easy to re-enrol. Simply give us a call or drop in next time you are nearby and one of our reception team will help you through the quick and easy process.
