EIT Health Centre is run by The Doctors Napier and provides professional medical and counselling services to the EIT students and staff at reduced cost.

After hours and holiday service is available at The Doctors Napier or The Doctors Greenmeadows.

We also offer ManageMyHealth (MMH) to our enrolled patients, which allows you to communicate with your medical centre from anywhere in the world.  It will give you access to request repeat prescriptions, book appointments, and view your personal health information from any internet device at any time.

Our practice nurses offer a range of clinics to help you manage long term conditions or take preventative action:

  • Nurses are available to do all smear and STD checks and help with any other women’s health issues.

Hours

  • Open 8:00am - 4.30pm Weekdays
  • Doctor consultations 8:00am - 12:00pm Monday & Fridays / 10:00am -2:00pm Tuesday to Thursday
  • A practice nurse is available Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm
  • Closed on EIT semester holidays

Our Doctors

Counsellor Tim Mapel

Tim Mapel is our cousellor on campus at EIT.  Tim is originally from the USA and has been living in New Zealand for almost 20 years. He has over 25 years experience working with a wide range of people in order to help them find solutions to the challenges that life presents. He has worked in residential, outpatient, and kaupapa Maori settings.  Tim enjoys working with the diversity and all of the issues of being a student at EIT. He is available to students and staff to discuss any issues that affect their health and well-being.

Dr Wendy Gush

Wendy Gush joined the EIT Health Centre team in 2010. She has been working as a GP in Hawkes Bay for the past 20 years, since immigrating from South Africa with her husband and baby.  Wendy enjoys working with the enthusiastic team at EIT and has special interests in women's health, student health issues and research.

Their family has grown over the years and now includes two teenagers, a uni student, a dog, cat, two pet sheep and four horses. When not working, or looking after the lifestyle block, house and family, Wendy relishes the outdoors, especially horse riding, kayaking, and cycling.

We warmly welcome new patients.  Being enrolled has many advantages:

•    We send you reminders and recalls for important health management
•    Pay less to see the doctor
•    Pay less for prescriptions (for subsidised medicines prescribed by your doctor)
•    Appointment bookings

Simply ask at reception or download our enrolment form below. Complete all the sections and send back to us by email, post, fax or bring it in with you.  You may need to bring in an original ID document (e.g. Drivers’ License, Birth Certificate, Passport) before your first visit - call our team to find out.

You do not need to be a patient with us to be seen by one of our medical team.If you’re a visitor to the region and need medical care, you’re also welcome. Please call our friendly team for an appointment.  All visitors and casual patients, please be aware that extra charges can apply when you are not enrolled.

Please note as of today there is a change in doctor hours at EIT.  The hours will be reduced to 4 hours per day.

EIT Doctor hours will be as follows:

8:00am - 12:00pm Monday & Friday

10:00am - 2:00pm Tuesday to Thursday

 

The practice nurse at EIT is available each day from 8:00am - 4:30pm.
