Nichola Callender

Nichola has joined the team from Ireland. She trained as a doctor in medicine and surgery at St.Barts and the London medical school.Her love for medicine, travel and family resulted in her choosing general practice as a career. She has special interests in paediatrics, women’s health and psychiatry. She enjoy’s being a GP as she has a deep understanding of the importance of families having support on their health/life journeys. Nichola understands the needs of families, being a mum of three children she loves helping other families with their health and wellbeing.
Koriki Love

Koriki graduated from Auckland university in 1993. After his initial hospital training in Whakatāne he moved to Australia to pursue a career in emergency medicine. After 20 years in the emergency department, Koriki retrained in General Practice and is now a fellow of the college.  He has recently moved back to Whakatāne with his wife and young son. Koriki enjoys all aspects of family medicine with an active interest in male, child and Māori health.  Outside of work Riki loves music, playing his guitar, bush walking and spending time with his whānau.

Graham Irving

Graham is an experienced GP with a special interest in minor surgery and teaching.  He qualified in South Africa and worked as a GP in Levin for 27 years prior to moving to the area.  He enjoys golf, tennis, walking, dancing, skiing, body surfing and sailing – he still has to learn to fish!
Kuo Yau Tan

Kuo Yau joins us from a Primary Care Senior Resident position in Singapore.  Through a heavy patient workload and Singapore’s multiracial society, Dr Tan has developed sensitivity to working with patients from diverse backgrounds.  He has a strong clinical knowledge developed through his work in primary, urgent and family care and has a graduate diploma in family medicine. 

Sangita Bharatia

Sangita specialises in general practice and is vocationally as such.  Working in Australia and Auckland before coming to work at Whakatane Hospital in 2005, she is an experienced GP with a particular interest  in Maori health and working with children and youth.  She enjoys music, socialising with friends and school and community activities.
