Cheryl is a Registered General and Obstetric Nurse who trained at Wellington Public Hospital, graduating in 1982. Cheryl has worked as a nurse since then, four years overseas, but mainly in the Wellington area. Cheryl joined Team Medical in 2005 as an Independent Nurse working closely with the practice GPs to care for the health of the enrolled patients. The role of the Independent Nurse at Team Medical is wide and varied, and includes all types of immunisation, woman's health, sexual health, ear syringing, diabetes management, diet and life-style education, smoking cessation education and dressings and plaster application. It is this variety that Cheryl enjoys. Cheryl has a particular interest in Respiratory Health, which includes performing and interpreting spirometry, asthma, COPD education and inhaler education.

RGON., MN., Post Grad. Dip. Primary Health Care, Post Grad. Dip Rural Health Care, Cert of Proficiency in Principles of Therapeutics, and Prescribing in Advanced Nursing Practice. Nurse Specialist in Primary Health Care Across the Lifespan.

Karen graduated from Palmerston North (MidCentral) Hospital in 1976. Karen worked in a diverse range of areas across the MidCentral region, with particular focus on Accident & Emergency, prior to working as a Practice Nurse in General Practice.

Karen completed her Masters in Nursing in 2011, joined Team Medical as a contracted Independent Nurse Specialist when it opened in 2002, and has continued to be an integral part of the health provider team since.

Karen sits on the Compass Clinical Quality Board providing advice from a nursing perspective, and attends the MidCentral and CCDHB Nurse Practitioner meetings on a monthly basis.

Ruth has worked at Team Medical for the last 7 years initially as an A & M nurse and more recently as Team Medical's Nurse Manager.

Ruth loves the diversity of her job, which includes not knowing what will walk through the door next, the ordering of medical supplies that the practice needs, engaging with the local ambulance service (Wellington Free), to developing new systems, e.g. the screening recall system.

Ruth's philosophy in nursing is based on treating the client as if they were a family member and giving the best care to everyone within the resources available

Dr Alastair graduated as a doctor at Glasgow University in 1982, before undertaking further vocational training to become a GP, qualifying in 1990. He has been a full-time GP in Hawick, in the beautiful Scottish Borders, since then. A few years ago, Dr Alastair & his wife Mhairi enjoyed a 6-month sabbatical working in New Zealand - so much so that they decided to return. Alastair joined Team Medical in October 2014.

Dr Christine graduated from Otago in 1990, and following work in Christchurch, Hawera and Rotorua, became a GP in 1993, moving to the Coast to be near family. Dr Christine started Team Medical, in partnership with Dr Brent Krivan, in 2002. Dr Christine is a Member of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, and has qualifications in women's and children's health, and vasectomies, having trained under Dr Margaret Sparrow. Dr Christine is the Southern Cross preferred provider of vasectomies in the Kapiti area. Dr Christine and her husband enjoy being part of the Kapiti community and all the things the Coast have had to offer her and her family over the years, in particular mountain biking, running and kayak fishing.

Dr Brent graduated from Otago University in 1986, and has been working as a GP for 24 years. Most of this time has been spent on the Kapiti Coast, where he started Team Medical, in partnership with Dr Christine Coulter, in 2002. Dr Brent is a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, and has a special interest in the management of skin cancer.
